Parking Strategy 2025 - 2028

Project Overview

The Town of Cottesloe is developing a comprehensive parking strategy focusing on optimising parking management to address the needs of residents, visitors and businesses, and supporting the area's economic vitality.

To assist with the development of the strategy, the Town is seeking feedback from residents, ratepayers, businesses and visitors to the Town in regards to parking.

Please provide your feedback via the survey available here. The survey will be available to complete until Monday, 8 December, closing at 5pm.

Information received from this survey will be used to develop a Draft Parking Strategy.

  • Town of Cottesloe Parking Strategy 2025-2028

The Town of Cottesloe has a range of parking locations which service residents, local business and visitors, and we would like to receive feedback about parking in Cottesloe, as we plan for the future.

The purpose of this survey is to gauge feedback on the experience of parking practices and locations in the Town, to provide context to the data the Town receives each day from its in-ground parking sensors and parking enforcement monitoring.

Looking ahead, there are proven management models in use at Cities and Towns nearby which allow planners to determine at what point the introduction of time-restrictions should occur and the triggers for how they should change. Following that, if occupancy persists, to consider the introduction of other treatments to encourage turn-over, such as limited paid parking. In regards to paid parking, it is important to note that the Town is unable to consider paid parking on the foreshore due to State regulations.

The Town is trying to achieve a parking strategy that:

    1. Ensures adequate access to parking and parking turnover – thereby meeting the needs of visitors, residents and businesses.

    2. Is financially sustainable for the Town – rather than the underlying costs of parking being met through rates and fines.

    3. Is easy to implement and use for the Town, residents and visitors.

    4. Aligns with the principles of encouraging walking and riding – particularly close to train stations.
